In Land9, it's possible to create variants of a track, which can be very useful for having different layout alternatives for a route, for example, to mark a shortcut or an optional visit.
How to Create a Track Variant
- Open a track
- Open the track editor
- Create a new variant (right-click > Create variant)
- Add points to it
- Create a final point for the variant where you want to join it to the main track
- Join the variant to the main track (right-click > Join variant)
- The junction point will be created, and you now have the variant created and attached
How to Change the Active Variant
Once we have a track with some variants, we can choose which one is active.
This will determine both the overall distance calculations of the track and the navigation indicated in TwoNav.
In Land, you can change the active variant in several ways:
- On the map. Double click on the inactive variant (gray), or on the diversion icon.
- In the data tree. Double click on the inactive variant (gray), or on the diversion icon.
- Option in the right-click menu, either on the map or in the tree
Note: The current variant system only allows managing a simple track structure, in which variants open and close successively.
It is not yet designed to create subvariants or backtrack on the track.
If complex structures with variants are created, the system may experience some malfunction.
