Route analysis is one of the most important phases in any outdoor outing. Knowing the altitudes, distances, and efforts you will face will help you successfully complete your adventure. Also, if you train, knowing your performance will be vital for improving day by day.
What types of laps exist?
There are two types of laps:
-
Automatic Laps: These are divisions of the track of the same size. The division is made based on a fixed interval (every kilometer, every hour...).
-
Manual Laps: These are sections of track that do not have to be the same size (distance or time). In manual laps, the user decides at what point to start a new lap.
How do laps help me?
Sometimes a global analysis is not enough and a more precise and concrete analysis is required. Land allows you to divide a track into laps, that is, track sections.
During the preparation of your route or training, it is important that, in addition to creating an itinerary, you evaluate its difficulty. Analyze the elevation gain of the lap ahead of you and adapt the route to the effort you can handle.
If you create routes with variants or alternative paths, review the duration of each variant, so you will know how much time each lap will take. This way you can approximately calculate the arrival time at your destination.
Where do I view the laps?
You can view the laps (both automatic and manual) in these spaces:
-
On the map:
-
In the data tree:
-
In the laps list:
How do I analyze automatic laps?
Thanks to Land, you can comfortably view the automatic laps of your track from home and analyze them with graphs and comparative tables:
-
Open the track you want to analyze.
- In the map window, open the contextual menu over the track and select 'Laps > Autolaps'. Choose whether you want to subdivide the track into laps by time or distance:
- Autolaps by distance: By default, the track will be divided into laps of 1 kilometer.
- Autolaps by time: By default, the track will be divided into laps of 1 hour.
Important: If you want to modify any of the two previous intervals (for example: dividing the track into laps of 5 kilometers instead of 1 kilometer), change it directly by pressing 'Main Menu > Tools > Autolaps'. - Additionally, Land will highlight each lap with a different color.
How do I manually analyze laps?
If the automatic laps are not enough to analyze the performance of your track, Land allows you to create your own manual laps, meaning that you can indicate the start and end of each lap according to your needs:
-
Open the track you want to analyze.
- In the map window, open the contextual menu over the track point where you want to start a new lap and select 'Laps > Change of lap here'.
- Additionally, Land will highlight the new lap with a different color compared to the rest of the track.
Note: You can readjust or delete the area covered by a lap at any time, you just need to set a new start and end of lap by pressing 'Move lap start to this point' or 'Move lap end to this point'.
- If you want to create more laps, repeat the previous steps as many times as laps you need.
What functions can I use in the laps?
In addition to creating and analyzing, Land allows you to perform these additional actions:
-
Save lap: The selected lap will be saved as an independent track.
-
Merge laps: All laps will be merged into a single track.
- Delete lap: The selected lap will be deleted and the two adjacent points will be joined by a straight line.
