Route analysis is one of the most important phases of any outdoor activity. Knowing the altitudes, distances, and efforts you will face will help you complete your adventure successfully. If you are training, knowing your performance will be even more crucial to improving day by day.
Types of Sections
There are two types of sections:
-
Automatic sections: These are track divisions of the same size. The division is based on a fixed interval (every kilometer, every hour...).
-
Manual sections: These are track segments that do not have to be of the same size (distance or time). In manual sections, the user decides at which point they want to start a new section.
Using Sections
Sometimes, a general analysis is not enough, and a more precise and specific analysis is needed. Land allows you to divide a track into sections, meaning segments of the track.
During the preparation of your route or training, it is essential to assess its difficulty. Analyze the elevation of the section ahead and adjust the route to match your effort level.
If you create routes with variants or alternative paths, check the duration of each variant so that you know how long each section will take. This way, you can roughly estimate your arrival time at your destination.
Viewing Sections
You can view both automatic and manual sections in the following areas:

Analyzing Automatic Sections
With Land, you can conveniently analyze your track's automatic sections at home through graphs and comparative tables:
1 - Open the track you want to analyze.
2 - In the map window, open the contextual menu on the track and select 'Sections > Autolaps'. Then choose whether you want to subdivide the track into sections by time or distance:
-
Autolaps by distance: By default, the track will be divided into 1-kilometer sections.
- Autolaps by time: By default, the track will be divided into 1-hour sections.
3 - Land will highlight each section with a different color.
Analyzing Manual Sections
If automatic sections are not enough to analyze your track's performance, Land allows you to create your own manual sections. This means you can set the start and end of each section according to your needs:
1 - Open the track you want to analyze.
2 - In the map window, open the contextual menu on the track point where you want to start a new section and select ‘Sections > Change section here’.
3 - Land will highlight the new section with a different color from the rest of the track.
Note: You can adjust or delete the section area at any time by setting a new start and end point using ‘Move section start to this point’ or ‘Move section end to this point’.
4 - If you want to create more sections, repeat the previous steps as many times as needed.
