If you have opened it and if you have identified the reference of the battery charging component, you should find the typical assembly of this component quite easily (on the manufacturer's website). What would be useful in your approach would be to know the voltage and current at the terminals of the battery when the GPS is connected to the charger and to compare these values ​​with the typical charging values ​​that are available on the websites of the charging component manufacturers.
