Create a vectorial map from a list of waypoint
Hi. I have SHP file of points with name. I want to create a vectorial map to show the name associated with eache point (this is in the .dbf file).
If I open the shp in Land 10, I see the map with point but I can't show the name. The data exist because I can use the Identify tools.
If I save the shp to mpv I loose all the associated data.
Any suggestion?

Creating a map in *.MVP format with Land 10 does not yet work entirely. Since Land 9 these functions have been altered, it is gradually coming back in successive updates of Land 10.
There are several methods, to create a *.MVP map either create a new vector map or save in *.MVP format.
What is your method?
When I save (save as) a line file in *.shp format to *.mvp with Land 10 it works, but it is difficult to play on the appearance.
So I use an old version of Land (Land 8.9.2) which allows an export in *.mvp or *.mvpf. Then Land 10 opens these files correctly.
Without knowing your final objective, what you do with these points, it is difficult to advise you.
A vector map in principle the final goal is to be able to draw a circuit on this map, if this is your goal there is a solution.

This is the image of a vector map created with Land 8, the same operation with Land 10 does not result in the same way, the map is functional, it can be used to build a route but the visual aspect is reduced to black wires.
Land 8 allows you to create complex and dynamic vector maps:
- The visual aspect is configurable (example the one I defined)
- The presence of objects in the map can be configured according to the zoom level to avoid overloads
- You can associate the relief curves with it, and configure the display according to the zoom level to facilitate reading.
- Same for the names of roads, paths, towns, villages, places etc.It is possible, as in this image, to superimpose an IGN Raster map and a vector map (Example illustrated in Belgium in the Fagnes). The vector map will allow the calculation of the route, to "raise" the paths (example these paths in the Fagnes in orange to signify access restrictions - not to be confused with prohibition) and as in this example to raise the reading of the relief, to make the curves more visible.
Or as in the case of this image the color of the roads of the Belgian IGN map is transposed into the color of the roads of the IGN France maps. The range of possibilities is wide.
Bests regards

Thank you. What I want to do is something similar on the map you describe. For example I have a shp file with cities boundary (polygons) and a shp file with city names (points). At the moment I'd like just show city name on the map forgetting cities boundary (i add it into another map for now).
So I need to use release 8 to do it... Unfortunately I don't have a license for this version.
I'll wait that land 10 fully implements this feature.
Thank you very much for your help.
