Not exactly sure what you are asking about, but maybe this pic is helpful. Battery is very firmly fixed with the cable plug to the mainboard. The side of the battery with the black foam should be on the mainboard. While reassembling be careful with the battery wires to leave space for the usb contact pins.

OK thanks for your answer. So the battery is not really fixed, just connected with the motherboard. Maybe the torx screws loosened slightly with the vibrations and allowed the battery to dance in the case.

Torx loosening: shouldnt be, since this would mean a minimum of 3 screws to get loose.

Do you have this black foam on the battery side pointing to the motherboard?

I have opened several Cross devices, some have different mainboards but the battery was allways fixed like this (black foam layer on the mainboard side of the battery and everything fixed by attaching the backside of the device. It was allways very difficult to remove the batterycable-mainboard connector (plug) from the mainboard. But my main activity is hiking so no strong vibrations for the device. If you have doubts, just use 2 powerstrips to glue the battery to the case backside too.

Hello, I have the black foam on the back of the motherboard, but not the foam strip on the front. I added double-sided foam tape. Tested this weekend on a mountain bike, no reboot found. :)
