Far/Near zoom not working on vmap files
Hello,
It looks like maps that are in .vmap format do not save the Far/Near zoom settings. Curiously I also have tested this option in a .osm map and it works without any issue. Does anyone know a workaround? Is there an official place to report this bug?

Hi Gerard,
you can address your report here:

Hi Gerard,
just tested. The changed zoom settings for forest are saved if you save it within a so called CLAY file.
right mouse click at "layers" => save layers as...(Prefix has to be the name of the map eg. Spain.vmap => Spain.clay)
Unfortunately the range within you can change the values is restricted ddue to the vmap itself.

On my version of Land 9.2.4 Mac when I change in the Twonav France_OSM_21q2.vmap map the level of appearance of the points on the map, say for example "Small Town" and if I save the associated clay file it does not change anything, the setting is ignored. It's very annoying and it's the main reason why I don't buy a Twonav GPS. Here is the rendering issue on the smartphone app.
There are many flaws in the rendering of the vector maps, I reported few of them here:

So, once I have this .clay file what I have to do with it? Land does not seam to know how to open this file extension.
Gert M., are you saying that you can not change Far/Near zoom on files .vmap (even with the .clay)?
I am using Land 9.2.4.

Hello,
Land will not open this file. Anyway it is a binary file, it is not possible to modify this file simply, except if there is a specific editor: to do with Guert.
The map for each layer open the properties section (note that the area that is active on click is subtle), it is a bit difficult because you have to adjust the settings for each line and you will probably have to use an older version of Land (8.9.2 for example) which is not bugged.
Then when it's finished right click and save which memorizes your adjustments.
The mymapname.clay file can be recovered for another map, it must be copied and pasted into the directory of this new map and given the same name as the mynewmapname.clay map.
I use the same clay file for all my maps from OSM including those I design with this rendering likeOrienteering by incorporating the level curves

You can try this setting, with Land 8.9.2 the update is saved and OK, and adjust the value if any.
Zoom In Zoom Out
Populations /
Town / Ville Always /Toujours 50
Village 50 10
Hamlet / Hameau 13 4
Local 13 6
Hamlet / hameau 8 4
Farm / Fermes 5.2 2
Neighborhoods / Quartier 5 2
Localities / Localité 3 1
Others choices is not check to be displayed

You have to try for yourself, some features related to the OSM map are working on other PCs with Land 9.2.4. I also see differences between two PCs with an identical environment, I assume that the version of Land 9 is now split into several levels, it is possible that the rights set, is incompletely installed. I suggested this line of research to TwoNav

Hello,
The same .clay file is used:
- On all my OSM-Pays_Q2 Vmap
- On all the.mvpf maps that I have made and there are dozens of them
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Bonjour,
Le même fichier.clay est utilisé :
- Sur toutes mes OSM-Pays_Q2 Vmap

Ok i've tried with an older version of Land 8.9.4.2 => same problem.
Then i've changed this setting in the preference panel OpenGl =>On
City name re-appear ! Stupidly enough the openGL setting is reset to openGL Off at each restart of the application.
But i'm wondering if there is a general setting that i can't see in the clay file and that is overriding the far zoom layer setting. In this next image the city should appear at any scale, but it doesn't appear. Same behaviour for the other layers. It's a bit like if there is a value range in wich we are allowed to change the near/far zoom setting.
I guess the far setting is the the sixth argmument in the clay layer setting
