Your are lucky I did some tests (with 4 different Cross devices, Wifi off, no sensors connected, free trackrecording: the first has some slight battery problems).

    Screen allways on:
Serial          Autobrightness.         Brightness 60%             Brightness 60%             Brightness 100%
    xxx(5.0.6)=15:53h (3438mAh)    15:03:18    (3431mAh)   15:32:31    (3375mAh)   13:52:06    (3421mAh)
    xxx(4.9.5)=19:06h (3548mAh)    18:02:42    (3420mAh)   18:23:00    (3379mAh)   16:35:26    (3407mAh)
    xxx(5.8.4)=20:03h (3309mAh)    18:10:51    (3239mAh)   18:47:00    (3272mAh)   16:22:39    (3241mAh)
    xxx(5.8.4)=20:37h (3371mAh)    18:43:16    (3354mAh)   19:02:00    (3318mAh)   16:36:31    (3363mAh)

    Great work!!
Do you think, considering your experience, to have HR sensor connected or to follow a precharged route/path, would make a great variation in these data?
    Thanks a lot!

I don't think it would change much. I do have an Ant+ HR sensor with which I could check but I don't feel like keeping that thing 16hours on my body.

But keep in mind, those tests are made with the Cross (not Cross+) device, which has an inbuild Ant+ chip which the Cross+ doesn't has. The Cross+ has an inbuild modern dual Bluetooth chip so Ant+ sensors will not work with it.

BTW: Using the device just as a tracker with only sometimes activating the screen gives me with the above settings more or less 20h endurance, which I find quite sufficient.

There are slight variations depending on your setting:

    Mine is mostly:

Free Trackrecording - Alarm every kilometer

    GPS+Glonass

    Screen goes off after 30s

Trackrecording every 10m, cumulative hight 10m, min. recording speed 0,8km/h, Autopause off.

I'm sure that the extensive bike user fraction present here can give you more details about battery live with connected sensors but since I'm mostly walking I can't.

    Thanks a lot. Again…
The Cross has both Ant+ and bluetooth?
Is there a big difference between the Cross and the Cross Plus? I see, other than the dual bluetooth, they improve the gps system. Is it a big improvement? Thanks!!!!

    Hello,

Regarding battery consumption, I don't have a CROSS or CROSS PLUS but a TRAIL 2 and a TERRA.

The TRAIL 2 has been in use for over 4 years now (5000 km) the charge loss is 5% per hour of use, my maximum is 10 hours of continuous use the screen always on at 60%, the guidance with audio, GPS + GLONASS + Gallileo, seeme, etc., on arrival it was at 48% remaining energy. The more recent TERRA consumes 8% of charge per hour of use without restriction of display or functions.

SBAS improves the precision of the trace, this can be seen in the recordings. SBAS does not correct all errors but the improvement compared to GPS without SBAS is clear.

    Best regards

    Thanks, Thierry.

So you recommend the Cross Plus over the Cross specailly according to de GPS improvement. I will use it specially for long distance cycling (road and off road); the gps accuracy could be the point.

Yes Cross has Ant+ & Bluetooth, but you can't connect a bluetooth sensor AND connect the phone app Link with the device too.

Regarding the gps accuracy, booth models have their pro & contra. The Cross takes sometimes longer to get a fix and the Cross+ sometimes produces error due to the oversensitivity. All in all, booth devices have very good gps reception.

Afaik only the Cross+ is still sold by Compegps. The Cross went out of sale a while ago.

The CROSS is no longer in production, may be in stock at some retailers.

If I have to recommend a GPS, it can only be in relation to my needs...

Staying 10 hours on a bike is huge, you also have to think about recharging the user's battery.

Either the autonomy covers several days and we can quibble over the few hours which will cover the remaining half day, because this allows us to forget the recharging aspect during the journey. Otherwise you have to bring something to recharge anyway.

So from the moment the autonomy largely covers a day of activity, the need is covered, recharging will be done either at the bivouac or during meal breaks with a Power Bank. The main thing is to maintain autonomy over time, therefore maintain the battery correctly, do not let it empty before recharging in order to have the right potential the day it will be useful.

From my experience of using 2 x 10 hours over two days in a row it is very rare, normal use is between 3 hours and 8 hours, on the saddle it is already good.

I would recommend the TERRA which has a larger screen, audio capacity so it can deliver different sounds which is very useful when the GPS guides us, for the rest apart from the autonomy the TERRA is functionally identical to the CROSS PLUS.

Note: Hyper sensitivity does not exist with a TERRA

    Best regards

Thanks a lot both, Uwe and Thierry. Your messages are very very useful for me.

One last question (taking advantage of your generosity!!!). Is possible to charge these units in motion, just when they are working? Using a power bank, for example?

I used to do long distance routes by bike; 12-16 hours. And also several days challenges. Of course, with stops!. Actually I use a Garmin Edge 520 (6-8 hours of batery with the setup I use). I charge it during the stops or even being in motion, just with a power bank. It works. But I would like not to be so dependent of charging the unit. I read a lot of very good reviews o TwoNav products and I am ready to change.

I was decided to buy a Cross Plus, but the last days I got the option to get a Cross model, new. Obviously, cheaper than the Cross Plus. But first I wanted to know which one is "better" for my needs. Have to take a decision...
