For old users of ROUTE (*.rte) navigation, you have probably noticed that road book navigation has some weaknesses. The main one is seen on a route that incorporates loops, or is in the shape of a figure eight (or of the infinity symbol), or if a portion of a return trip overlaps the outward trip (or close to it), the guidance has the the screen becomes incomprehensible, for example it skips over the outward portion, or guides you to a point in the back as if this point is in front of you.
It would seem that the software does not choose the next destination point (Icon) in the list of route points but the geographically closest one.
On a simple route, either linear or a large single loop, the operation is correct.
On the other hand, in the event of re-routing while following a route, if the user chooses to shorten a route and his shortcut crosses another segment of this route, the screen becomes unusable, it does not indicate plus the right direction, you need a very lucid mind to analyze the situation, or lucid mind when you have to shorten it is not won.
A Road Book designed by Land (or another app) is either a *.trk or *.gpx file, in both cases it is a list of track points (TrkPt) some of which are enriched by the image of the road. 'Icon and a "Wptxx" description field, possibly a comment.
The solution, to make the tracking of a road book robust on these complex routes, is to use sets, this notion of sets now seems to work correctly in Land 9.2.4. The road book can be designed either in Land or outside of Land, how?
- Build a track in GPX format via a router for example,
- Place WayPoints on the places where you wish to be guided or informed of a particular attraction.
At the end of this task (identical to the one necessary in Land to build a RoadBook) you have two *.gpx files: the track and the list of WayPoints (myTrace.gpx and myWpts.gpx).
In Land, just create a new set, and place it in /data (myItinerary.gpx)
Then you open your two files myTrace.gpx and myWpts.Gpx, then you drag them into myItinerary.gpx. It is possible in the property of myItinerary.gpx to specify the activity and the color, however the alert distance to the Wpt cannot be included (no corresponding field in a *.gpx), the alarm must be configured in distance. Then save myItineraire.gpx and send it to the GPS to place it on the GO CLOUD.
It is invisible on the GO Cloud, but in the GPS you can open it by looking for it in /my online routes.
The GPS opens it, and guides you on this route in road book mode.
The myItinerary.gpx file is different from that of a native Land road book, it is a file that includes a list of WayPoints followed by a list of track points.
It remains to deepen this solution to assess its strengths or weaknesses, pending a robust version of the RoadBook designed via Land. Nevertheless on the ground the guidance in a loop increases the WayPoints well, it no longer makes the famous "backflip".
