Topo maps of Svaneti Georgia to use on Anima GPS
I am planning a walk in the Svaneti region of Georgia later this year. I am looking for map(s) to download onto an Anima GPS. So far I have not been able to find anything suitable, either Vector or raster. I have tried to convert some Garmin vector maps, but but not very successfully. The contours and line detail show up, but there are no labels (e.g. contour height, place names). I have tried to extract from the world OSM in Land, but the files take days to download, even for small areas, and the definiton is not sharp enough for use on the small screen of the Anima.
Any suggestions?
Thank you
Peter

Hello,
I have a look to OpenStreetMap for your Hike target, out of the cities or village the map is very poor. Can you get a paper map, if it is possible youn have to scan this map to make jpeg tiles. After with LAND PREMIUM you can calibrate (geolocate) the jpeg tiles before make a rmap tile. All thoses tiles can be linked in a GEORGIA_Topo.imp file as the same way as your YourCoutry_topo.imp.
Have a look to MOBAC free software who made rmap tile from OpenStreetMap...
Good hikes in Georgia

Thank you to all who have responded. I am working through the various suggestions. So far, the best I have found are (I) scan and calibrate the 1:50000 Geolander paper Maps. Unfortunately the ones available to date don’t cover all the areas I want. (Ii) download sections of OSM topo map from Two Nav site. This is a slow process, but the resolution is better than the MOBAC download. I’ve also downloaded several vector files - including the one suggested above. These give the best resolution on the Anima’s small screen, but for some reason none of the labeling shows up, so there are no names for villages, roads, etc., nor altitude figures on the contour lines.
Each of these options has its own advantages, and one good thing about Two Nav devices is that all can be loaded and selected as required.
The main problem is finding maps which give sufficient resolution for the Anima. I’ll keep worki g on it, and i’m happy to receive any further suggestions. Thank you all, Peter
