It's time to create the route

I usually search for an already created route and then modify it to my liking, which is what we are going to do today. If you prefer, you can also create the route from scratch using the same methods and tools that we are going to use to modify the route we download.

You can download routes from various platforms, in fact, Land connects to many of them such as Wikiloc, Strava, Komoot, IGN Rando, TraceGPS, Open Runner, Suunto Activities, Utagawa... In my case, the ones I use the most are Komoot and Wikiloc. The connection to Wikiloc is not direct but today I will show you a very useful feature to download routes from there. Use your preferred platform!

So, we take a look at both platforms and look for the one that best fits what we are looking for. On these platforms, you will get additional route information, so you can better filter by distance, elevation gain, difficulty... and find the most suitable route.

Searching for routes on Wikiloc

Land has a feature that I use a lot to search for routes in a specific area. It's called 'Find a Route on Wikiloc'. Just center the map in the area where I'm going to hike and select the 'Tools > Find a Route on Wikiloc (in this map area)' function found within the top menu 'Tools'.

Land will open the Wikiloc website and show us the routes filtered by the map area I've centered in Land. Once here, we apply a better filtering using filters: sport, distance, elevation gain...

Searching for routes on Komoot

If you're a user of Komoot, you can connect your account directly to Land and access your saved routes directly from the data tree of Land.

On the Komoot website, we search by entering "Volcán Santa Margarida" in the search bar, so Komoot will apply a filtering for this area. Now all that's left is to adjust the filters and save the route of our choice.

Once we have saved the route in our Komoot account, all we have to do is return to Land and open the route directly from the data tree.

After searching on Wikiloc and Komoot, I have settled on this route as it is the one that best fits the route I want to take. Nevertheless, I will add a section since I feel like extending it a bit more and passing through a place that my friends have told me is very beautiful and worth visiting.
