Knowing the usefulness of the different windows and toolbars in Land is essential to feel comfortable while planning your routes.
Toolbars
From the toolbar you can open the main Land windows: the data tree, the properties of activities, routes, waypoints and maps, and the graph to analyze your itineraries. From the top bar you can also open maps and routes, as well as create tracks and waypoints.
Inside the map window, on the left side, you have the toolbar. Use its many functions to interact with the elements you have open:
- Orient or move the map
- Recenter the map
- Zoom in to see more detail
- Show the map in 3D view
- Measure distances between points
- Element selector
- Open more map windows
Data Tree
One of the most important windows in Land. From the data tree you will manage all the elements you will work with: maps, activities, routes, and waypoints.
The data tree is a very powerful window as it allows you, among many other things, to open/close, show/hide, copy/paste and move elements from one file to another. For example: copying waypoints from one route you are preparing to another.
Tip: Open this window by clicking 'Window > Data Tree' or by clicking directly on the button:
Properties Window
In this window you can analyze in detail the element you have selected, whether it's an activity, a route, or a waypoint. For example: if you select a route, the properties window will show you the data that was recorded during your activity: distances, altitudes, times, slopes...
Some of these values are editable. To modify them, click on the 'Pencil' icon.
Tip: Open this window by clicking 'Window > Properties' or by clicking directly on the button:
Graph Window
In this window you can analyze the profile of your routes in a more visual way. By default, the window will show you the altitude/distance or time/distance graph.
If you want to perform a deeper analysis, you can change the axis values to other fields of interest such as heart rate or slope. In addition, you can also add a second vertical axis to compare more fields in the same graph.
Tip: Open this window by clicking 'Window > Elevation Graph' or by clicking directly on the button:
Map Window
This is the central window of Land where all the action takes place. Here you will view your maps, create routes, and mark waypoints.
Maps are the essential element of Land without which we cannot work. With Land you can open multiple maps at the same time regardless of their type: topographic, orthophotos, road maps, reliefs...
Within Land you have access to several types of online maps from around the world that you can start working with as long as you are connected to the internet. Access these maps from the data tree, inside the section 'Maps > Online Maps'.
If you have ever purchased maps from TwoNav.com, or if you own a TwoNav GPS, you can also use these maps in Land. Follow the instructions in this tutorial to easily install your maps.
Remember that if at any time you need more detailed maps for the area you are going to visit, at TwoNav.com you will find a catalog of more than 30,000 maps from the world’s most important cartographic publishers.
Tip: Land is capable of opening multiple maps at the same time without limits, the only limit is your computer's memory capacity.
