The vector maps in Land 10 have a properties window where you can view and modify how they are displayed.
Some properties are shared with raster maps, especially those related to zoom (see Raster Map Properties):
- Near zoom: level at which the map will be hidden when zooming in.
- Far zoom: level at which the map will be hidden when zooming out.
Layers and Objects
Unlike rasters, vector maps are composed of layers, sublayers, and objects, each with their own properties.
The properties of a layer apply to all its objects unless an individual object has specific settings.
These properties include elements such as color, line thickness, fill style, font type...
Font and Label Properties
The fonts determine how the labels of objects are displayed (for example, the name of a street on an OSM map).
Text sizes can be defined in two ways:
- Real size (in meters): the label adjusts to the zoom level (larger when zoomed in, smaller when zoomed out).
- Pixel size: the label always maintains the same size on screen, regardless of zoom.
Show and Hide Layers
Each layer can be shown or hidden independently.
Example: if you uncheck the eye icon on the POI layer of an OSM map, the points of interest will disappear from view without affecting the rest of the map.
Editable and Non-editable Maps
Vector maps in Land 10 can be editable or non-editable, and each type behaves differently regarding modifications:
Editable Vector Maps (e.g., MPV)
- Changes you make to properties, layers, or elements are saved directly in the original file.
- You can freely modify colors, layer visibility, geometries, and object attributes.
Non-editable Vector Maps (e.g., VMAP, MPVF)
- You can modify properties while working, such as showing or hiding layers, changing colors, or adjusting fonts.
- However, these changes are not saved to the original file.
- To preserve the configuration, you can create an additional configuration file with the extension .clay.
This way, Land 10 allows you to customize any vector map, even non-editable ones, without altering the original file.
Save Configuration in a .clay File
If you are working with a non-editable vector map (such as VMAP or MPVF), you can save the display configuration in an additional file with the extension .clay. This allows you to keep your layers, colors, fonts, and visibility settings without modifying the original file.
Steps to Save the Configuration
- Make the desired modifications: show/hide layers, change colors, adjust fonts, etc.
- Right-click on the Layers branch of the vector map.
- Select Save layers as.
Using the .clay File
- If the file has the same name as the map, Land 10 will automatically apply the configuration when opening the map.
- If the file has a different name, you can load it manually using the Import layer file option from the map menu.
This way, even non-editable maps can be customized and kept organized according to your preferences.
