One of the great advantages of Land is that it allows you to connect directly to various online route services. Thanks to them, you can browse and download routes created by user communities from around the world.
This is especially useful when you are planning an outing in an unknown area or want to compare popular routes to make sure you choose the best path.
Types of Servers
In Land you will find two main categories of servers depending on the origin of the routes:
My Online Routes
These are very popular platforms like Komoot, Strava, Suunto, IGN Rando where you need to have a personal account to access. Once you link your account with TwoNav, you can access from Land all your routes and activities, both those you have created and those you have found and saved in your account.
Important: The connection method varies depending on each platform. Check how to link them by reading this article: Connecting Platforms with TwoNav
Discover Online Routes
These are open servers like GO by TwoNav, OpenRunner, UtagawaVTT, FFCT where you can search and download routes from other users without needing a user account.
Accessing Route Servers
Follow these steps to connect to any of these services or platforms:
-
In the map window, center the search area, zoom in on the area where you want to find routes.
-
Access the routes, you can do this in two ways:
From the data tree:
Click 'Routes' and then expand 'My Online Routes' or 'Discover Online Routes', depending on the content you want to open in Land. To display the entire route on the map, double-click the chosen route.
From the map:You can also search for routes directly from the map, where the starting points of each route will appear. Hover the cursor over a point to see the name of the route.
Double-click to display the entire route on the map. By double-clicking, you will also be downloading the route. From that moment, you will not only see it on top of the map, but it will also appear in the 'Routes' section of the data tree.
If you want to keep exploring and discover routes in other areas, just move the map to the desired area. Once you have the area defined, in the data tree, right-click the service and click 'Refresh'. Land will show you the available routes for that new area.
If you want to hide the routes from a service on the map, uncheck the eye icon that appears next to the platform name in the data tree.
Saving Downloaded Routes
You should know that downloaded routes will not be saved automatically in your data folder, but in a temporary folder. If you want to keep a route, right-click on it and select 'File'. Then, you will see several options to save it:
Copy to my data folder: Land will save the route in the root 'Data' folder.
Move to folder: choose a subfolder of 'Data' where to save the route.
Save as: customize the name and select a folder on your computer to save the route.
