The Anchor tool allows you to set a reference point on the map to help orient yourself, measure distances, or easily re-center the view.
You can anchor any point on the map or even an existing waypoint.
Enable or disable the anchor
Enable: right-click on the map and select Anchor Position
Once enabled, the pushpin icon will appear at the point where the position has been anchored.
Disable: right-click again on the map and select Unanchor
When an anchor is active, the selected position remains marked as the main reference point.
Functions of the anchored point
Having an anchored position is mainly useful for two tasks:
1. Re-center the map
It allows you to quickly return to the anchored point by pressing the Re-center button.
This is useful when you have moved around the map and want to return to the reference area.
2. Measure proximity
With an anchored point you can easily see the distance between the anchor and other map elements, such as waypoints or tracks.
In the data tree, you will see the distance to the anchored point next to each waypoint.
If you sort the list by Proximity, the closest waypoints will appear first.
This same information can also be found in the properties of each element.
To get the distance to tracks, enable the second-line data in the data tree.
Anchoring on different elements
You can anchor the position on:
Any free point on the map.
An existing waypoint.
This allows you to use the anchor as a precise reference for calculations and measurements within Land.
