All the settings of the Land software are centralized in a single window: Preferences, accessible from the main menu.
How to access?
Menu > File > Preferences
Once inside, you will find a wide variety of options organized into thematic sections.
Some of these sections include expandable subsections, which you can access by clicking the chevron icon (˃).
Many of these options are detailed in specific help center articles. If you have questions about a particular function, you can look up its explanation there.
Below you can find some highlighted features.
General
- Language: Allows you to change the application language.
- AutoSave: automatically saves changes made to files such as tracks or waypoints. Remember you can 'Undo' changes with the <- button, or by pressing Control/Command+Z.
- Initial configuration: Restores all default values of the application.
View
- General
- Use OpenGL in 2D: Improves graphic performance and smoothness when moving the map. On some systems it may cause conflicts, slowdowns, or even crashes. If you experience errors or slowness, try disabling this option.
- Relief: Configuration of elevation model (DEM) view. Allows you to show or hide terrain relief or configure its appearance. Even if hidden, the information is still used to calculate altitudes.
- Data tree: Configures the display of the second line of information on tracks, sections, and waypoints.
Maps
- Maximum size for map cache folder: Defines how much space will be reserved to store downloaded sections of online maps. A larger cache allows faster use of online maps. When full, the oldest parts will be deleted automatically.
Folders
You can set which folders Land should use to search for maps or files (tracks, waypoints, routes…).
- You can configure multiple folders.
- Only the first data folder is synced with the GO cloud.
Coordinates / Units
Allows you to select:
- The type of coordinates and the datum to use.
- The units of measurement: distance, altitude, speed, etc.
Devices
Although most devices are detected automatically when connected via USB (they appear directly in the data tree), this section allows you to configure:
- Special devices connected via serial port.
- External GPS antennas that send the current position to Land.
Navigation
If Land receives a real-time GPS position, it can be used for navigation. From this section you can configure the navigation pointer and the automatic map recentering among other functionalities.
Keys and buttons
From here you can customize, among other features, the interface button bars and keyboard shortcuts to quickly execute functions.
