Waypoints have multiple properties both to view their information (coordinates, altitude, etc.) and to edit their appearance. In this section, we will review the most relevant particularities in Land.
You can find a complete list of waypoint properties in the following article: Waypoint properties
Open properties window
Once you have the waypoint file open, you can show or hide the waypoint properties window in two ways:
-
Button in the toolbar: click the corresponding icon to open or close the window.
- Right-click on an object: right-click the waypoint you want to inspect and select ‘Properties’.
Editable properties
Most properties are editable, and editable ones are identified with a pencil icon. For example, you can add a title to your waypoint or change its representative icon. To edit these properties, click the pencil or double-click the value.
Note: When editing the 'Waypoint file' field, a list of waypoint files currently open in Land will appear, allowing you to select one to move the waypoint.
Tip: If we have multiple elements selected (e.g., waypoints or tracks), and we display the Properties, changes made to properties will affect all selected elements. That is, if we have 3 waypoints selected (using the Shift or Control/Command key), and we assign an icon in properties, all 3 waypoints will change to have that icon.
Waypoint file properties
Waypoints are organised into waypoint files, which are the files that contain them. In the data tree, you will see the waypoint file with its waypoints inside.
The waypoint file also has its own specific properties window. Its most relevant properties are the 'Default values for waypoints', which determine the appearance of the waypoints if it is not defined in the specific waypoint, as we will see in the next section.
Appearance properties
Waypoints allow you to configure many properties to adjust their appearance to your needs.
Most of these properties can be found in the 'View' section.
These properties work with the inheritance system. If a waypoint has a defined property, that value will apply. If not (it is marked as 'default'), its value will be taken from the waypoint file. And if the file is also set to 'default', it will finally take the value from 'Settings > Waypoints'.
You can find more information about this system in the following article: Waypoint appearance in Land (inheritance system)
