With the GO Cloud, your files will be synced on your various devices, as explained in the article What is the GO Cloud?.
But you may want to delete files from a device while keeping them in the cloud. For example, maybe you want to delete last year’s activities from your GPS device to free up space but keep them in the cloud and in other synced devices, like on your computer with Land.
Below we explain the different ways to delete files.
Deleting files from a device
To delete files from a device (computer or GPS) without deleting them from the GO Cloud and other synced devices, you have the following options:
A - From the product’s User Interface
- On TwoNav GPS devices:
- From the file lists, open the file’s context menu (long press on the item in the list) and select “File > Delete file”.
-
- From the file’s properties window, open the page menu (button on the lower bar) and select “File > Delete file”.
- In Land: Open the context menu for the file in the data tree (right click) and select “Delete File”.
When you do this, the program will ask if you want to delete it from this device only or from the GO Cloud as well and from other synced devices.
This operation can be applied to several files simultaneously by using the “Shift” or “Control” keys to select the files.
You can also carry out file operations on a GPS device that is connected via USB.
B - From the file explorer
You can access the stored files from the file explorer on your computer (Windows or Mac). If you delete files in this way, they’ll be deleted from the device but not from the GO Cloud.
This method works for both files in the Land document folder and for files in GPS devices that you connect to the computer via USB. Remember that, by default, a GPS device saves data in the ‘TwoNavData > Data’ folder.
These deleted files will not be downloaded automatically again. To recover them on this device, you will have to do so manually, by downloading them from go.twonav.com, for example.
Deleting files from the GO Cloud
To delete files from the GO Cloud, and therefore from all synced devices, the following options are available:
- From Land: As in the previous section, open the context menu for the file in the data tree (right click) and select “Delete File”.
When you do this, the program will ask if you want to delete it from this device only or from the GO Cloud as well and from other synced devices.
This operation can be applied to several files simultaneously by using the “Shift” or “Control” keys to select the files. - From the GO website: At go.twonav.com there is a ‘delete’ tool for every file containing lists of activities and routes.
