In Land, it is possible to create track variants, which can be very useful for having different route alternatives, for example, to mark a shortcut or an optional visit.
Create Variants
Follow these steps to add alternative paths to your tracks:
1 - Open a track.
2 - Open the track editor.
3 - Create a new variant by right-clicking and selecting 'Create variant'.
4 - Mark the points of the new path.
5 - Create a final point of the variant at the point where you want to connect it to the main track. It is important to click on the exact point of the track where you want to connect the variant so that it is created correctly.
6 - Connect the variant to the main track (Right-click > Connect variant).
7 - The connection point will be created, and now the variant is successfully connected.
Active Variant
Once a track has one or more variants, you can choose which one is active. This determines both the overall distance calculations of the track and the navigation displayed in TwoNav. In Land, the active variant can be changed in several ways:
- On the map: Double-click on the inactive variant (grey) or on the turn icon.
- In the data tree: Double-click on the inactive variant (grey) or on the turn icon.
Considerations
The variant system currently allows managing a simple track structure, where variants are opened and closed sequentially.
It is not yet designed to create sub-variants or to make track reversals.
If complex structures with variants are created, the system may not function properly.
