Pin Mode allows you to explore the terrain by marking a position with your finger (pin) on the map to get detailed information about the place and data related to your current position.
It is a key tool for analyzing the terrain and making decisions before starting navigation, allowing you to interact quickly and directly with any point on the map. Use Pin Mode to:
Analyze a point before starting navigation
Check distance and bearing without navigating
Quickly create a waypoint
Check the terrain altitude
Start actions directly on a point on the map
It is accessed from the map page and allows you to perform different actions depending on whether you mark a point on the map or select an existing element (waypoint, track, map, etc.).
Accessing Pin Mode
You can access Pin Mode in several ways:
By long pressing on the map:
From the map page, by accessing the Page Menu (3 dots):
To close Pin Mode, tap the icon X located in the bottom left corner:
Top Bar
When you activate Pin Mode and place a pin on any point of the map, you can view information about that location in the top bar:
Coordinates: visible when no object is selected
Object name: visible when selecting a waypoint, track, or other element on the map
Bearing: an icon indicates the direction from your current GPS position to the marked point
Distance: distance from your current GPS position to the marked point
Terrain altitude: requires having a map open with relief information (CDEM or map with elevation data). More information at: What types of maps are there?)
If you move the pin to another place on the map, the information displayed in the top bar will update to that point.
Note: Bearing and distance are calculated from your current GPS position. If there is no GPS signal available, this data may not display correctly.
